Getting outdoors to paint amongst nature, battling with the elements to create your impression of a place, is one of the most creatively rewarding and yet frustrating tasks an artist can face. The pros is the beauty, the splendour and the vast amounts of inspiration that the ever changing landscape offers you. The cons, the ever changing landscape. By this I mean the somewhat unpredictable Cumbrian weather, winds so strong your easel takes off into a neighbouring field or horizontal rain that makes you wish you'd studied portraiture instead, how cosy and warm they must be. With all that said, I truly believe I am one of the luckiest people alive, for all sorts of reasons, but certainly because I was born, live and work in one of the most breathtaking parts of the world. Here is my home and my inspiration.
